Join us at Old Man on His Back Prairie and Heritage Conservation Area (OMB) for a weekend of native prairie fun! Beginning on Saturday, August 13th at 9:00 am, volunteers will help clean up the Bison handling facilities, cap fence posts, and place markers along fence lines to increase their visibility for Great Sage Grouse. The plastic caps that are placed on the tops of hollow metal fence posts prevent fledgling birds from falling inside the posts, then becoming trapped and dying.
OMB is also a designated Nocturnal Preserve area with almost no night light – offering an extraordinary night viewing experience for novice and well-seasoned star-gazers alike! So if you love the outdoors and Saskatchewan’s natural prairie, and want some hands-on land stewardship experience, consider joining the NCC team at the OMB, about a two hour drive south of Swift Current in the Milk River watershed. Bring your family for an authentic southwestern Saskatchewan camping and stargazing weekend!
