DESCRIPTION:The Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce and Brunswick Creek Psychology Services present\,\n\nPsychChat\, a free lunch-and-learn series exploring current research\, trends\, and applications of psychological knowledge tailored for business and community agencies servicing Swift Current and Southwest Saskatchewan. Each weekly thematic session will describe a current mental health issue\, describe the brain-basis for the condition\, and describe evidence-based interventions and strategies that can be applied at your work setting. Following the presentation\, a moderated Q&A will follow\, so you can ask questions from the presenter(s). \n\nTheme 1: Stress Busting: Taking control of your worry and anxiety.\n\nTheme 2: Mood Matters: Understanding motivation and depression\, and what you can do about it.\n\nTheme 3: Don't Be Busy\, Be Productive: A discussion on executive function and setting yourself up for success.\n\nTheme 4: Comeback from Setback: Responding to adverse experiences and how to overcome them.\n\nTheme 5: Battling Brain Fog: Exploring workplace accommodations and technology.\n\nEach session will be lead by Dr. Conor Barker\, Registered Doctoral Psychologist\, and clinical director of Brunswick Creek Psychology Services. Dr. Barker is an assistant professor of child and adolescent clinical psychology at Mount Saint Vincent University\, and has been a practicing psychologist in Southwest Saskatchewan for the past 11 years. Dr. Barker has worked with children\, youth\, adults\, and families providing assessment\, intervention\, and consultative services. Dr. Barker's current research explores rural psychological practices\, knowledge translation of neuroscience\, inclusive education\, and creative application of psychology.\n\nSessions will begin at 12:10\, and conclude by 12:50 so they can fit into the lunch hour. Recordings of the sessions will also be available on the www.brunswickcreek.ca website.
